Recently, we were teaching you a way to create an automatic “reposter” to relaunch your entries on social media. The task of managing more social media every day can be tedious. For a normal profile, there’s no problem, but if we’re talking about a company, it can be helpful to automate small tasks like sharing statuses.
To that end, I’ve prepared this small entry to help you solve this problem in a simple way. And I’m going to do it with a real case, mine. It turns out that I want to use Facebook more than Twitter from now on, but I don’t want any account to be left behind, so I’m going to connect my Facebook Fanpage with Twitter, so that the first one sends the statuses to the second.
What do we need to connect social media accounts?
It turns out that not all social media make it easy to automate processes or tasks, and LinkedIn is one of them. It doesn’t allow you to connect anything from IFTTT, you’ll have to configure a third tool. But since that’s not the case now, I’ll leave you with the video tutorial.
Don’t worry, because everything I’m going to explain here is free, completely free. That being said, if you’re an agency and need more intensive or scaled use, you’ll have to opt for the tool’s plans or use Zapier. But for basic use, it works. So, what do we need?
- A Facebook page (note, a page and not a personal profile).
- A personal or business profile on Twitter.
- A free account on IFTTT.
Configuring IFTTT
With IFTTT, it’s easy, create an account if you don’t already have one, and click on the “Explore” button. Once there, you’ll need to search for the Applet or connector that best suits what you want to do. In my case, I’m going to look for one in particular, the one that connects the Facebook fanpage with Twitter. I’ve left you the link in case you want to use it.
Once inside the Applet, we click on connect and it will ask us to log in with Twitter to use the profile we want, and then it will ask for permissions on Facebook to choose the fanpage we want to use. To do this, you must be an administrator of a page, but I’m clarifying just in case.
